The Henry Spink Foundation

10/10/2007

It took Henrietta Spink 6 years to find out what was wrong with her son. Although he remains physically disabled, Henry has made enormous progress since he began his treatment several years ago.Henrietta spent 4 years studying neurology and biochemistry in an attempt to understand her son's condition and concluded that a chemical imbalance was preventing messages from Henry's brain getting to the rest of his body. Dr. John McLaren-Howard from Biolab in London, thought that Henry's problem stemmed partly from mercury poisoning -his mother is convinced this passed to him during pregnancy, from the amalgam fillings she had placed in her teeth. Henrietta launched a charity, 'The Spink Foundation', to raise money for research into biochemical disorders in children, which she believes will help give Henry and others a future.
