SCENIHR Public Consultation on Dental Amalgam.

23/02/2008

The European Commission has requested the SCENIHR to prepare an opinion on “The safety of dental amalgam and alternative dental restoration materials for patients and users” which has just been published. Stakeholders have been invited in a Public Consultation, to comment on this preliminary report although no individual experiences and cases will be considered – so much for a Public Consultation! I will publish objections to the EU report as they continue to pour in!

Anyone considering removal of their amalgam fillings should be aware that the process is DANGEROUS as it releases highly toxic mercury vapour. It should only be undertaken by an experienced mercury-free dentist using full IAOMT protocols in order to minimise the risk of exposure to mercury.
